The jewelry made with lots of love and inspiration by the kids at the Skills Workshop at Hristo Botev School, the village of Turnava, Byala Slatina district. The pictures were sent to us by Maya Todorova. Here’s part of her letter:
“Children love creating, they need a place to let their imaginations run wild. In our Skills Workshop kids with special needs work alongside their peers but you can’t tell that from the photos – everybody is equally concentrated, inspired and able.
The salt dough recipe: one part salt, one part water and two parts flour.
Divide the dough into balls and color each one with egg dyes.
You can make white beads, too (if you don’t have any egg dyes). When they are dry, you can color them with (metallic) tempera or acrylic paints.

When you shape the beads and the figures, puncture them with a wooden skewer or a drinking straw. Dry them in a low oven or on the radiator until the dough hardens. String them on a piece of cord and your necklace will be ready. If you want to make it really durable, cover the beads with clear lacquer.
